Paper Mache Halloween Projects

Paper mache Halloween projects are great fun to make. It's a holiday that lends itself to creating all kinds of weird and wonderful goodies.

Now, I have to say, dressing up gardens and houses for Halloween is nowhere near as big here in the UK as it is in the USA. It probably has something to do with the weather being so awful most of the time. I wouldn't want to put my precious paper mache works outside only to get them soaked, but something creepy to carry to the door when the kids come round trick-or-treating will be fun.

Growing up in Africa I don't remember celebrating it at all. But I do remember our Scottish neighbour in Zambia telling me all about how the vegetables came up out of the ground and danced creepy dances on Halloween night. Scary stuff for a little kid. I've never looked at a carrot the same way since.

Anyway, it's going to be fun working out how to create lots of creepy things and I hope you'll check back often for updates.

Staying with the whole vegetable theme, the first project just has to be the good old pumpkin lantern which I believe is also known as a jack-o'-lantern.

And what Halloween would be complete without a creepy skull? We decided to make our Skelly into a lantern as well. It just adds a bit of interest to have him lit up at night. He will look great standing in the window, or even being carried door to door like the pumpkin.
