Note to Self Keep Track of Those Great Ideas
Great ideas for things to make from paper mache come to me at the most ridiculous times. If I have a pen and paper handy I jot them down quickly. I've often woken up in the morning to find a little yellow Post-It note on the wall with an idea for a sculpture or a way to decorate a bowl I've made. If I hadn't jotted it down in the night I'd have forgotten I'd even had the idea, never mind what it was.But what if you don't have pen and paper to hand? Here are a few creative ways to keep that idea safe and sound. If you have a cell phone you can save it as a memo or even as a draft text message. You don't have to send it so it costs you nothing but it's there for safe keeping. I once got a really exciting idea for a project in the days before cell phones (I know, I'm a dinosaur). I was in town at the time and had nothing to write with or on so I used a call box to phone home and leave a message on my answering machine. My hubby is a writer and he gets his his best ideas in the shower so he makes notes to himself in the steam on the shower door. It probably wouldn't work for me as it's often illegible by the time he's finished, but it works for him. Just the act of 'writing it down' seems to solidify the idea in his mind. A friend of mine, who is hopeless at keeping track of notes, carries a cheap portable voice recorder in her handbag. At the end of the day she plays it back and types up any ideas she's had into a document on her computer. What's your favourite way to keep track of your great ideas?
