Issue #009, 1st March 2011

Hi and welcome to the March edition of Trash to Treasure. Well, February might have been a short month, but it sure was busy.

I had a karate grading, discovered the US deadline for my second novel is in July and my UK deadline is October. As I'm only halfway through the book I've been writing like a crazy person.

That doesn't mean I've neglected my paper mache though. There are a couple of exciting new sections on the website that I'm looking forward to adding to over the next few months and, speaking of books, I've started working on the outline for the paper mache ebook I'm planning to write.

There will be more news on that as soon as my partner in PM and official photographer, Annemarie, gets back from South Africa at the end of next month.

New on the site:

The first new addition to the site is Work in Progress.

I didn't want to start a blog as I know I won't be able to update it as regularly as I would like at the moment. However, the work in progress section will be a similar thing.

It'll be a bit like a diary of all of the projects we're working on at any given time. I'll try to keep it as up to date as possible so you can see how we take new works from start to finish.

Introducing KidZone

KidZone is a section I've been wanting to add to the site for a while now.

I want to add projects suitable for youngsters of various ages as we develop that part of the site.

If you have anything you think your kids would enjoy making, just drop us a line via our contacts page and we'll see if we can work out a tutorial for them.

Project

This month's project is an Easter basket for your chocolate goodies.

I know Easter is only at the end of April but, as I mentioned last month, we will be doing the holiday projects a month ahead of time from now on to be sure everyone has time to get them done. Click here to download it.

I had a bit of a dilemma with the project for next month. We'll be making a lovely vase of paper flowers for Mother's Day. Now, the reason it was a dilemma is that, although Mother's Day is on the 8th May this year, I live in the UK and we celebrate Mothering Sunday here on April 3rd.

If you live in the UK too and you'd like to try this project please drop me a line via the contacts form and I'll do my best to email the tutorial to you as early as possible.

Oh, one other thing, I've been having issues with my email this month. From time to time (actually, quite often) I get a message saying there was an error sending the mail and yet it has gone to my sent items box.

If you've contacted me and not received a reply, or if you're expecting to hear from me but haven't had an email, please get in touch and I'll get back to you via a different address. I am receiving emails okay, I just seem to have issues sending them.

That's all for this month. I hope you'll join us again for the April edition of Trash to Treasure.

Until then, happy creating,

Karen and Annemarie
