Issue #12, 1st June 2011
Welcome to the June edition of Trash to Treasure. I hope May was a bit more relaxed for you than it was for us here at Creative Paper Mache. You'll notice that there hasn't been a lot happening on the website over the last month, but it's been all action behind the scenes so I'll kick off the e-zine with the latest news.
News CPM has a new headquarters. Great fun was had by all on moving day. Well, not really - we had to lug everything up a very steep staircase and battle two fire doors in the process, but we're nicely settled in now. Annemarie is back from her six month trip to South Africa. She had a fantastic time and has come back with tons of inspiration for new work and some great photographic references of colours and textures to incorporate in future decoration. She did manage to do a little bit of PM while she was a away, but not much. Not that I blame her when there are so many other fun things to do over there. One of the projects she completed was a custom made frame for a painting she did. We'll be putting some more of her work up on the site over the next few weeks. Our really exciting news is that we are making a life-sized baby elephant to be used in a fund raising drive for anti-poaching. Ellie's ultimate destination is Zambia and we're still on the lookout for a way to get her there that isn't ridiculously expensive. I can't say too much about the project at the moment as there are still a few technicalities to iron out, but there will be more news coming up on the Facebook page and in next month's e-zine. Your Art Xenubarb has submitted her Dragon Phoenix to the site. She is planning to make him a new head and we're really looking forward to seeing the updates when he's finished. Thanks for sharing him with us, Barb. If you have something you'd like to submit to the site, please fill in the submission form on the site. We'd love to see it. June's Project Well, last month I had no idea what the project was going to be for June. I knew it would be a very busy month, but I was determined to make sure we did have a project. Luckily Annemarie came to the rescue. She made a super tea tray for the new CPM HQ and June's project is how she did it. Click here to download your copy of the step-by-step tutorial. Coming Up... In July's Trash to Treasure we're getting ambitious. The project for next month is a small coffee table. Ours has been in use for some time now, and has survived the odd coffee spill, several kicks and even six months in storage. So if you want a durable little table that costs very little to make, Trash to Treasure is the place to be. In the meantime, happy creating, Karen and Annemarie If you want to keep up with the latest happenings in between issues, we have a Facebook fan page which you're welcome to join, and take part in. We'd love to see you there. Our tutorial is in PDF format and requires Adobe Reader to view it. You can get a free copy by going to their website if you don't already have it. |
