Issue #14, 1st August 2011

Welcome to the August issue of Trash to Treasure. There's been quite a bit of activity on the site since the last issue, so let me tell you all about it.

In this issue:

  • 1. New Facebook features
  • 2. Your Art
  • 3. Our Latest Work
  • 4. Paper Lamp Shade
  • 5. Coming Up In September's Trash to Treasure

1. New Facebook Features

You may have noticed that you can now add Facebook comments directly to our website pages. If you would like to say something about anything on the site just scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the box to comment in.

You don't even need to have a Facebook account to comment as you can also use your Yahoo, AOL or Hotmail account.

If you do have a Facebook account, and you like the site, or a particular page, you can use the Facebook buttons to share with your friends.

2. Your Art

Sue from Australia has added her Hot Pot to the site.

I think this is a brilliant idea for a centre piece on a table. Love it. Thanks for sharing, Sue.

3. Our Latest Work

Well, we're still working on our elephant. I chatted to our client via email the other day and it seems Ellie is a he elephant, and not a she. Perhaps I need to start calling him Elliot then.

We're hoping to get him finished in the next couple of weeks and get him safely shipped off to Zambia so that he can begin raising money for anti poaching and community uplifting schemes.

We've also completed my dolphin, and Annemarie's fish since the last issue of Trash to Treasure.

4. Paper Lamp Shade Tutorial

Augusts's tutorial is a great way to revamp any old lamps you might have lying around. You can download it here. It's a cheap and easy way to breathe new life into a lamp shade that may be past its best.

5. Coming Up Next Month

Well, since we decided to do our holiday projects the month before the holiday, the September issue of Trash to Treasure will feature the Halloween project. That should give you plenty of time to get yours made ready for October.

I have lots of ideas for spooky goodies, but I haven't decided which one to use yet. I'll be posting it on the Facebook page and the website as soon as we've got it done. So look out for that announcement.

As usual, we'll have all the news and the updates on the site as well.

If you'd like to share some of your art with us, ask a question, or just get in touch, details of how to are below.

That's all for this month.

Happy creating until next time,

Karen x
